I loved seeing this little boy pick Administrator McCarthy as his partner. Learning about new cultures and how our actions as a global citizens impact one another is key to making changes for the betterment of all society. June 22, 2016 Today, Administrator McCarthy joined President Obama when he signed the bipartisan Toxic Substances Control Act (#TSCA) reform bill-- the first major update to an environmental statute in 20 years. This is a huge step forward to help us protect Americans from toxic chemicals. We are eager to get to work!

As we come to the end of the Obama administration, we’re taking a look back at some of the moments we’ve shared with Administrator McCarthy. April 27, 2016: Glad to see CA getting some rain, but it makes for a non-traditional #solar visit! Today the Administrator announced EPA will be moving forward with a Clean Energy Incentive Program. It'll allow states to incentivize early investments in wind & solar, as well as in energy efficiency measures in low-income communities. As part of the announcement we toured and met with engineers at NEXTracker and Solaria. These #solar companies represent innovation and protecting our kids’ future.

December 6, 2015: One of my favs from last night at #COP21. Administrator McCarthy wrote "Go EPA!" She went on to give a speech about the #CleanPowerPlan and the importance of utilities and private sector industry working together saying, "The progression of technology can grow by leaps and bounds if you send the right signal."

November 24, 2015: JUST ANNOUNCED: Administrator McCarthy will join the U.S. delegation to the #COP21 climate talks in Paris next week. In this video she reviews 45 years of environmental progress and our achievements under the president’s Climate Action Plan.

August 3, 2015: Today at the White House, our Administrator Gina McCarthy joined President Obama to unveil the #CleanPowerPlan. In her words: "I'm confident that the huge step forward we're taking today will show the world just what's possible, and it will encourage countries across the globe to join in this fight - because climate change is a challenge we can conquer together."

President Obama clearly understood that a clean, healthy environment is not a luxury. It is a right. And his Administration has made the case that smart investments in our environment do not conflict with a growing economy – they support it. These investments have helped contribute to the more than 15 million private-sector jobs created since early 2010. And in 2014 alone, clean energy investment increased by 14 percent, a rate five times that of the rest of the U.S. economy. And we have empowered citizens with new air and water quality monitoring tools and provided access to a wealth of new online applications that give the American public the information they need to take action to protect themselves and their families from exposure to pollution. Michelle Sauve, Intergovernmental Affairs Specialist, Administration for Native Americans, Health and Human Services, Saint Regis Mohawk and French Canadian. I came to DC to be the director for a program called WINS – it’s the Washington Internships for Native Students at American University. What drew me to it was the opportunity to work with native students and to help shepherd them through an experience that I didn’t get to have as a college student. It provided full scholarships for students to come and study at AU and do an internship at the Federal government, which was a sponsor. One of the traditions of that program was to do an annual pow wow, with different traditional regalia, different dance styles, different music – and the sharing of all that and their significance came out naturally, through conversations and interactions. These pow wows were always on the AU campus. One year there was a wedding that was coming out as we were having the pow wow, and they joined us in a social dance, so we did a round dance with the bride and groom. And that’s part of the reason why we wanted to have it on the campus, to say Native students are still here. They’re still a part of the country; to be able to expose AU students, alumni, whomever, and to connect with the DC community. #NativeFirstVoices
Macy Rae Kenworthy, US Arctic Youth Ambassador, Inupiaq, Eskimo from Kotzebue, Alaska. I was raised to be humble and look outside of myself. That’s easy when your livelihood is based off the lands and you rely primarily on fishing and hunting for food source. We do have grocery stores, but they’re super expensive. And there aren’t a lot of job opportunities. When you’re living off the lands, you’re forced to pay attention. We’re taught, by example mostly, to take care of each other, and we see it a lot when people go out of their way to help those who need it by providing what we catch and sharing that with the community, or with the elders. In a small town, you know when someone is struggling, but you need to be able to step back and look around at the people surrounding you. #NativeFirstVoices
