| | Peter J. Donaldson, Interim Board Director Peter J. Donaldson is the Interim Board Director of the Committee on Population of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Previously, he was president of the Population Council from January 2005 to March 2015. He came to the Council after serving as the president of the Washington, DC-based Population Reference Bureau (PRB) for nine years. Before joining PRB, Donaldson was director of the Population Council’s program in Asia. Earlier in his career, he Donaldson was director of the Committee on Population from 1985 to 1989 and a member of the senior staff of Family Health International (now FHI360). He began his career as a fellow at the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University in Bangkok. Donaldson is a former member of the board of directors of the Population Association of America and past president of the Association of Population Centers. He was a member of the Committee on Population from 2009 to 2014, and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of InsideNGO and the Global Health Council. He has authored or co-authored numerous scientific articles and popular essays, and written or edited six books on demography and population policy. He received a B.A. from Fordham University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University. In 2010, he received an honorary doctorate from Mahidol University. | | | | | | Mary Ghitelman, Program Assistant Mary Ghitelman is Program Assistant for the Board on Environmental Change and Society and the Committee on Population in the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education. She has been with the Academies since April of 2015. Previous to that, she worked on temporary assignments with the Academies as well as the National Academy of Education. She is a Maryland native who ended up in Wisconsin for her higher education— Mary received a B.A. in psychology from Beloit College. | | | | | | Tina M. Latimer, Program Coordinator Tina M. Latimer is the Program Coordinator for the Board on Environmental Change and Society, Committee on Population, and Committee on Law and Justice. Tina joined the staff in the spring of 2014 after 19 years of experience working in law firms as an Office Manager and Executive Legal Secretary. She also worked as a staff assistant to the U.S. Congressional Subcommittee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Competitiveness. Through these experiences, she developed excellent skills in managing the overall administrative and logistical procedures in a busy environment. She is responsible for coordinating the reporting requirements, administrative functions and logistical support for CLAJ and the project committees. She supervises the Program Assistants for all projects, provides support to the Board Director and ensures the smooth implementation of DBASSE and NRC procedures. She plans to pursue a B.S. in Criminal Justice. | | | | | | | | | |
