DATA Act Section 5 Pilot Program
The DATA Act, passed in 2014, aims to make federal grants information increasingly accessible and searchable.
In May 2015, a new pilot program for the law was launched by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Three key activities comprise the DATA Act Section 5 pilot program, which is scheduled to run from May 2015 to May 2017 and will lay the foundation for the law's implementation:
- Members of the public are able to comment on the DATA Act and its reforms, sharing feedback and suggestions in an online forum.
- Standardized data elements for reporting on federal grants are being collected in a federal-wide resource called the Common Data Element Repository Library (C-DER Library), which is managed by the HHS DATA Act Program Management Office (PMO).
- Grants.gov will continue adding content and resources to the new Grants Learning Center, which is designed to support the federal grant lifecycle.
