We recently helped food truck Mudbug Mobile Madness go solar!

"This was a fun project," solar tech Jeremy C. shared. "The customer was looking to power a food truck with solar and batteries during the day, and charge it over night."

"We went with a single Magnum 4448PAE power center to provide 120/240VAC and 4400 watts of continuous power if needed. We added a Midnight Classic 250 charge controller to handle 4 high voltage panels."

We just got a big sheet of snow outside our offices in Mt Shasta, California. We love seeing lots of snow on our mountain, but it also makes us think of one of the most important aspects of winter weather: making sure you don't lose power.

Backup power relies on battery storage. Winter weather can take a toll on the batteries, cutting both capacity and lifespan... but it doesn't have to! Bernie in Maryland put his solar array to extra good use. Not only does it tie into the grid and cover his electricity costs, it also serves as a roof to protect his winter firewood! Check out the DIY wood storage rack Bernie built - pretty neat.

He's also creating a mechanism to raise and lower the angle on the array, very helpful to help with efficiency and any snow the panels might accumulate now that winter is fast approaching.
