Parks at West Point Lake

West Point Lake offers 21 Day Use Parks for public use. While many people visit the Lake to boat and camp, the parks offer a variety of other recreation facilities including tennis courts, ball fields, basketball courts, fishing piers with fish attractors, nature and hiking trails and picnic shelters for individuals or large groups.

Three public swimming beaches - Earl Cook, Rocky Point and Yellowjacket - are open to the public from early May until Labor Day ($5 per vehicle and $20 per bus or commercial vehicle charge to use public beaches). Have a pass? US Army Corps of Engineers and America the Beautiful Passes are honored at our beaches and provides FREE entry. See our Discount Pass Program page for more information.

Life jacket loaner stations are located at the Gatehouse for visitors who choose to use them. Type 5 PFD throw rings are located on the beach site for emergencies.

Many picnic shelters can be reserved by calling 706-645-2937. Four county and municipal parks located on the lake offer similar facilities and day use areas as well.

Metal detectors may be used only in those areas designated as “open." All other public property is classified by regulations as “closed." Download the metal detecting regulations brochure here.
