    The State Library provides access to over 30,000 journals and newspapers via our online databases. Access to JSTOR requires a State Library of Massachusetts Library Card for remote access.

  • Current Newspapers

    This list comprises all newspapers that the State Library currently receives in print format, some of which are also available online. The Library provides full-text access to a selection of newspapers via our online databases.

  • Historical Newspapers

    The State Library has a large selection of historic newspapers covering the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. This collection primarily focuses on statewide newspapers.

  • Zimmer Newspaper Indexes

    Compiled by librarians at the State Library in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Zimmer Index covers newspaper articles of interest to legislators and citizens of the Commonwealth. This resource indexes newspapers from Boston and the surrounding area from 1878 to 1937. Library staff also compiled a selective index to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald between 1962 and 1983.
