  • Life Insurance & Accidental Death

    Life insurance helps provide for a state employee's family's economic well-being in the event of your death. This benefit is paid to your designated beneficiaries.
  • Flexible Spending Account Pretax Benefits

    State employees save on average $300 in federal and state taxes for every $1,000 contributed to the Health Care Spending Account and Dependent Care Assistance programs. 
  • Buy-Out for State Employees and Retirees

    If you have access to non-GIC Health Insurance (for example, through your spouse) it may pay to participate in the Buy-out Program.
  • Long Term Disability (LTD)

    The GIC's Long Term Disability (LTD) is an income replacement program that protects state employees and their families in the event of a disability or inability to perform the material and substantial duties of the state job.
  • Dental & Vision

    State and participating municipal retirees, survivors, and GIC RMTs are eligible for Retiree Dental.  State employees who are not covered by collective bargaining or do not have another dental and/or vision plan through the state may be eligible for the GIC Dental/Vision program. The GIC offers vision discount benefits to state retirees, survivors and GIC RMTs.  
  • Wellness Program

    Active state employees working in the Executive Branch, Constitutional Offices, and the Legislature have an opportunity to improve their health with the GIC’s pilot WellMASS program.  To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a GIC health plan.
