2017 NWPs Issuance and Reissuance of all 50 nationwide permits (NWPs) - 1/9/2017: On January 6, 2017, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) published the notice in the Federal Register announcing the reissuance of all 50 existing nationwide permits (NWPs), general conditions, and definitions with some modifications. The Corps also issued two new NWPs, one new general condition, and five new definitions. The 2017 NWPs will go into effect on March 19, 2017, and will expire on March 18, 2022.

NWO-2015-1680-PIE - 12/22/2016: The City of Tea requests Department of the Army authorization for the 271st Street Improvement Project. The proposed work includes roadway widening, installation of public utilities, and construction of bicycle paths and pedestrian sidewalks primarily within the City’s municipal boundary. The proposed work would encroach into wetlands that eventually flow to the Big Sioux River. A total of 2.19 acres of permanent wetland fill is proposed. The proposed work is “Phase 1” of the overall “271st Street/County Road 106 Improvement Project”. Phase 1 is considered to be a single and complete project. The authorization process for Phase 2 (if proposed) is planned to occur in coordination with Lincoln County at a later date. The proposed activity is located in multiple Sections of Township 100 North, Ranges 50 and 51 West, Lincoln County, South Dakota.

NWO-2015-0237-PIE - 11/1/2016: The District Engineer, U.S. Army Engineer District, Omaha, Nebraska is evaluating the Ducks Unlimited proposed South Dakota Umbrella Mitigation Bank Program. Mitigation banks are used to satisfy compensatory mitigation requirements for Department of the Army (DA) permits issued under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act [33 USC 403] and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act [33 USC 1344]. Section 10 regulates activities in, or affecting, navigable waterways. Section 404 regulates the discharge of dredged or fill material in the Nation's waters. The purpose of this notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed umbrella bank program and to solicit comments. Participation is encouraged so that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is better able to complete a more thorough public interest review. Comments assist the District Engineer to make a reasonable decision based on public interest factors.
