One of the best ways to slow down and really enjoy the great outdoors is to go camping, and Walter F. George Lake offers excellent waterfront campsites, whether you like to camp in comfort or really rough it. The Corps of Engineers maintains several campgrounds which are considered to be some of the finest in the Eastern United States. Fee campgrounds like, White Oak Creek, Cotton Hill, Bluff Creek and Hardridge Creek offer water and electrical hookups, ample parking, grills, picnic tables, and clean shower facilities with laundries. Control gatehouses with attendants and/or hosts, and patrols by Park Rangers and local law enforcement agencies provide added security for campers and visitors. Reservations may be made six (6) months in advance of the arrival date.

Non-fee camping is available on both lakes at Rood Creek Park, on Walter F. George Lake, and Coheelee Creek Park on Lake George W. Andrews. These areas are perfect, secluded places to go fishing or just relax and enjoy nature.

Campers may stay for as long as 14 days in any 30 day consecutive or non-consecutive period; longer stays require the prior approval of the Resource Site Manager. Golden Age and Golden Access Passports are accepted.

For more information on camping, please contact the Natural Resources Site Office at (229) 768-2516.
