Birmingham VA Medical Center has new Director
The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas C. Smith, III, FACHE, as the new Director of the Birmingham VA Medical Center. Mr. Smith will oversee the delivery of health care to more than 60,000 Veter...ans and an operating budget of $400 million.
Mr. Smith has a proven track record as an exceptional health care leader and former United States Army Officer with outstanding qualifications and skills, demonstrated management ability to lead complex organizations, motivate employees, manage resources, and work successfully with widely varied stakeholder groups. It is anticipated that Mr. Smith will arrive at the medical center within the next 30 days to begin his appointment.
