Basin Environmental Improvement Project Commission
The Basin Environmental Improvement Project Commission (BEIPC) was created by the Basin Environmental Improvement Act, a state law enacted by the Idaho Legislature in 2001 to coordinate environmental remediation and natural resource restoration in the Coeur d’Alene Basin. The commission is comprised of seven representatives of federal, state, tribal, and local governments. DEQ’s director is an active member of the commission.
The BEIPC is specifically charged with implementing EPA’s ROD for Operable Unit 3. In addition, the BEIPC is authorized to oversee phase II cleanup work in the “box” to address water quality and assist in management plan for Coeur d’Alene Lake.
Attend a quarterly forum of the Citizen’s Coordinating Council to discuss current topics, find annual work plans, or attend a public meeting of the Commission.
