Welcome to the NOAA AOC Science Section website, home of the NOAA
Hurricane Hunters! We are part of the Aircraft Operations Center (AOC),
a branch of the NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO).
The AOC has airplanes that are flown across the U.S. and around
the world, providing airborne platforms that are essential to the
gathering of environmental and geographic data for scientific research.
We fly over everything from oceans and wetlands to mountains and Arctic
ice--even into the eyes of hurricanes--to support NOAA's mission of
understanding and better predicting environmental changes.
