VICKSBURG, Miss., August 10, 2016 – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi Valley Division, is conducting an Industry Day to address specific topics regarding stone supply, delivery and placement within the Mississippi River.

The intent of this day is to share and gather information that will foster program efficiencies for Corps requirements during fiscal year 2017 and beyond.

All interested large and small businesses (including Small, Small Disadvantaged, Small Disadvantaged Veteran Owned, Woman Owned and HubZone small businesses) are invited to attend. This is an excellent opportunity to meet some of the Corps’ program managers, small business teams and contracting officers. There will also be opportunities to network. The NAICS code is 237990.

Industry Day focus includes performing stone repairs to revetments and dikes at various locations on the Mississippi River between Cairo, Ill., area and Head of Passes. Principal features of work include grading; earth or sand fill, and subgrade restoration; stone paving, stone fill and subaqueous stone placement; removing pavement; breaking out paving; rearranging disarranged concrete paving; degrading of stone along revetments and/or stone bendway weirs; repair to dikes, including placement of stone fill in specified areas of minor damage and stone paving protection; and environmental protection. This work will be performed in the Mississippi River; varying water depths and currents may be encountered.

The Mississippi Valley Division is responsible for water resources engineering solutions in a 370,000-square-mile area, extending from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and encompassing portions of 12 states.  Work is carried out by district offices located in St. Paul, Minn.; Rock Island, Ill.; St. Louis, Mo.; Memphis, Tenn.; Vicksburg, Miss.; and New Orleans, La.
