Communication Awards: Call for Nominations

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are now accepting nominations for the 2017 Communication Awards to recognize excellence in reporting and communicating science, engineering, and medicine to the public during 2016. A $20,000 prize is awarded in each of the following categories: book; film, radio, or TV; magazine or newspaper; and online. Nominations must be submitted online no later than Feb. 10, 2017. More information on eligibility, submission requirements, and nomination procedures.

Vaccines and Health Effects

Vaccines and Health EffectsA number of peer-reviewed consensus studies by the Academies have explored issues of vaccine access, safety, scheduling, and possible side effects. Adverse Effects of Vaccines: Evidence and Causality, issued in 2011, concluded that few health problems are caused by vaccines, and the evidence showed no links between immunization and certain serious conditions of concern including autism.
