Adoption Centers
The BLM maintains a large network of permanent adoption centers to facilitate the placement of wild horses and burros into private care through the Adoption and Sales Programs. Each adoption center varies in its operating hours and how it conducts an adoption. Some centers are located within a correctional facility and only conduct periodic public adoption events, while others are open for walk-up visitation during open hours and some are appointment-only.
Click on an adoption center on the map below to find more information about the facility, such as phone number, hours of operation and appointment availability. For more help, call the BLM Information Hotline at 866-468-7826 or e-mail wildhorse@blm.gov. Download a printable flyer with location and contact information here.
