NWO-2009-00654-RWY - 1/13/2017: Youngs Creek Mining Company, LLC has requested authorization for the development, operation, and reclamation of the Youngs Creek Mine in Sheridan County, Wyoming as well as the construction of a road to facilitate movement of shared equipment, personnel and coal for blending purposes with sister entity, Spring Creek Mine in Big Horn County Montana. Future plans include the construction of a rail spur for direct market shipping of privately owned coal reserves from Youngs Creek Mine once sufficient production has been established.

NWO-2015-01744-WEH - 1/13/2017: Saunders County SID #8 - The proposed river bank stabilization project is adjacent to the Woodcliff Lakefront Residential Development, also known as Sanitary Improvement District (SID) 8, and located approximately 3 miles downstream from Fremont, Nebraska. The project begins approximately 350 feet downstream from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company’s (BNSF) Platte River bridge crossing, extending approximately 1.6 miles downstream along the south bank, and ends at the Woodcliff boat ramp. The applicant’s project will protect the SID’s perimeter access roadway embankment, adjacent utilities infrastructure, and protect the remaining riverine buffer between the road and the Platte River channel bank. The project will result in the total permanent discharge of fill material in waters of the U.S. (WOUS) totaling 1,491 linear feet (LF) (0.575 acre) of channel bank and 0.129 acre of PEMA/C riverine channel wetland impacts.

2017 NWPs Issuance and Reissuance of all 50 nationwide permits (NWPs) - 1/9/2017: On January 6, 2017, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) published the notice in the Federal Register announcing the reissuance of all 50 existing nationwide permits (NWPs), general conditions, and definitions with some modifications. The Corps also issued two new NWPs, one new general condition, and five new definitions. The 2017 NWPs will go into effect on March 19, 2017, and will expire on March 18, 2022.

NWO-2015-1680-PIE - 12/22/2016: The City of Tea requests Department of the Army authorization for the 271st Street Improvement Project. The proposed work includes roadway
widening, installation of public utilities, and construction of bicycle paths and pedestrian sidewalks primarily within the City’s municipal boundary. The proposed work would encroach into wetlands that eventually flow to the Big Sioux River. A total of 2.19 acres of permanent wetland fill is proposed. The proposed work is “Phase 1” of the overall “271st Street/County Road 106 Improvement Project”. Phase 1 is considered to be a single and complete project. The authorization process for Phase 2 (if proposed) is planned to occur in coordination with Lincoln County at a later date. The proposed activity is located in multiple Sections of Township 100 North, Ranges 50 and 51 West, Lincoln County, South Dakota.

NWO-2011-02364-WEH - 12/21/2016: GP 11-02 - General Public - This Regional General Permit (RGP) authorizes the following flood protection, reconstruction and repair work for flood damaged areas: (1) Repair and reconstruction of existing roads. (2) Construction of temporary roads. (3) Construction of temporary levees, dikes and berms. (4) Repair of levees including breach closures. (5) Protection (e.g. armoring) and/or repair of bridge and linear transportation embankments. (6) Protection and/or repair of utility structures. (7) Placement of suitable material for bank stabilization. (8) Construction of temporary drainage ditches to facilitate the removal of flood water, sheetwater or excess water. (9) Restoration of channels and ditches to pre-flooding alignment and capacity. (10) Protection and restoration of intake and outfall structures. (11) Removal of flood-deposited sediments and grading/restoration to pre-flood contours. The disposal of flood-deposited sediment should be performed within uplands. Flood-deposited sand/silt material from the Missouri River may be returned back into the Missouri River up to 100,000 cubic yards of material per activity. The authorization of in-stream disposal of flood-deposited sand/silt material back into other rivers will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Issues considered will include total and daily amounts of proposed disposal, method of disposal, location of disposal, concurrent disposal activities, time of year and flow rates.
