Winter Trails Day
Saturday, Jan. 28 is Winter Trails Day! The Bureau of Land Management, Municipality of Anchorage Department of Parks and Recreation, and Recreational Equipment Inc. invite you to join in this celebration of winter fun at the Campbell Creek Science Center. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Last gear checkout at 1:30 p.m.)
Winter Trails Day provides a perfect opportunity to learn snow sports and is a great way for friends and families to get outside and connect with their public lands. Experienced staff and volunteers will teach winter recreation skills and representatives of community organizations will be on hand to provide information about recreation opportunities.
Activities will include skiing, snowshoeing, and fat-tire biking. (You can bring your own equipment or try demonstration equipment at no charge). Learn how to wax your skis or build a snow shelter. Run the snowshoe obstacle course, take the geocache challenge, or get your running shoes studded.
Dress warmly and be sure to bring a helmet if you want to try a fat tire bike. Come for an hour or bring a lunch and stay for the day. Hot beverages will be provided throughout the day at the Science Center and you can roast marshmallows at the fire pit!
Parking is available at the Science Center or at the Campbell Airstrip Trailhead parking lot. Please leave dogs at home.
