Support the Equality Act

Personal Narratives

Luke Peterson has testified three times before lawmakers about the need for a state non-discrimination law — once for each of the times he believes he’s lost a job because of his sexual orientation.

HRC is looking for LGBTQ Americans who are willing to share their personal experiences with discrimination. It's vitally important to share personal stories as work begins on The Equality Act.

Equality Act Impact

The Equality Act provides basic protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, access to public spaces, housing, education, jury service, credit and federal funding. The bill does not change the protections available for religious institutions under federal law or the First Amendment.

The Need for Full Equality

The patchwork of current LGBTQ legal protections leaves millions subject to uncertainty and potential discrimination that impacts their safety, their family and their way of life.
