USAID's Investments for Education and Social Services in Malawi - Dollars to Results
FY 2011 $13.3 M
FY 2012 $14.6 M
FY 2015 $10.7 M
Why Our Work Matters…
Education impacts health, economic growth, and food security. Across the world, increasing the average level of higher education in a country by just one year can add half a percentage point of growth to gross domestic product.
In Malawi, the low number of girls completing primary school remains the strongest barrier to improving their health and economic status.
USAID's education and social services program in Malawi aims to:
- Improve basic education;
- Support higher education; and
- Provide social assistance and services for vulnerable populations.
