Iraq's institutions have been degraded by decades of war and misrule. USAID and the Government of Iraq work together to help rebuild a stable, self-reliant, unified country.

USAID's Peace and Security program in Iraq aims to:

  • Promote regional stability and security.

USAID’s Community Action Program's main goal is to assist Iraqi communities to organize voluntarily, coordinate with local authorities, and prioritize and respond to community needs in a spirit of cooperation.
