USAID's Investments for Education and Social Services in Haiti - Dollars to Results
FY 2011 $15.1 M
FY 2012 $3.0 M
FY 2014 $11.4 M
FY 2015 $8.3 M
Why Our Work Matters…
Education impacts health, economic growth, and food security. Across the world, increasing the average level of higher education in a country by just one year can add half a percentage point of growth to gross domestic product.
USAID/Haiti supports Haitian President Michel Martelly identifying free and universal education as one of the key priorities of his administration. During Fall 2011, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training began the rollout of an operational plan to get 1.5 million students in school by 2016, improve curricula, train teachers and set standards for licensing schools.
USAID's Education and Social Services program in Haiti aims to:
- Improve basic education; and
- Provide social assistance for vulnerable populations.
