USAID programs are designed to address the unique needs of each country as it transitions from conflict to peace. Further, programs are designed to establish a foundation for longer-term development by promoting reconciliation, fostering democracy, and providing support for developing government operations. Activities appropriate to the needs of the country can include, but are not limited to, helping to mitigate conflict in vulnerable communities, supporting institutions that mediate and address perceived grievances, and conducting educational events to teach about the peace process.
