Why Our Work Matters…
Education impacts health, economic growth, and food security. Across the world, increasing the average level of higher education in a country by just one year can add half a percentage point of growth to gross domestic product.
USAID focuses on: the revision of primary school curriculum in reading in mother tongue language and English; development of quality textbooks and supplementary reading materials; teacher training; community involvement in school management; improvement of the education system; and building the capacity of graduate level-education and research.
USAID's Education and Social Services program in Ethiopia aims to:
- Improve basic education; and
- Provide social assistance for vulnerable populations.
