Resources for Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers

ASHRAE

Heating, refrigerating, and air-conditioning engineers rely on global weather and climate information for a variety of purposes, including building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration, and sustainability. Members of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and other building engineers may find the below resources helpful.

  • Climate Data Online System
Climate Data Online provides access to a wide variety of NCEI’s historical weather and climate data in addition to station history information.
  • Mapping Tool
The Climate Data Online Mapping Tool displays interactive maps of a variety of hourly, daily, and monthly observations. Various themes based on products, programs, and observation type are available including average, maximum, and minimum temperatures as well as precipitation data.
  • Global Climate Observing System Data
The Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) provides comprehensive information on the total climate system, involving a multidisciplinary range of physical, chemical, and biological properties as well as atmospheric, oceanic, hydrological, cryospheric, and terrestrial processes.
  • World Meteorological Organization
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is the specialized agency of the United Nations for meteorology (weather and climate), operational hydrology, and related geophysical sciences. Under WMO leadership, the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of its members contribute to the safety and welfare of humanity.
  • World Climate Data and Monitoring Programme
The World Climate Data and Monitoring Programme publishes and disseminates authoritative reports on the status of the global climate and offers a platform for international collaboration to foster high-quality climate datasets and their exchange.
