Ahead of House Republicans’ vote to begin the process to repeal the Affordable Care Act tomorrow, here’s a look at Republican hypocrisy on the ACA over the last six years.

With the 115th Congress beginning this week and the President-Elect’s inauguration taking place in two weeks, Republicans have a responsibility to govern and get things done for the American people. 

As the Republican-led 114th Congress comes to an end, it’s clear that this Congress has become yet another closed, unproductive, do-nothing Congress.

In 2007, the pharmaceutical company Mylan acquired the patent for the EpiPen. Since then, they have dramatically increased the price of this emergency epinephrine injector.

Seven months ago, President Obama requested $1.9 billion in emergency funding to combat the spread of the Zika virus in the United States. Since then, despite a growing number of cases reported in the U.S. and its territories, Republicans have refused to take action to address the Zika virus. 

This week, House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer delivered a speech on how Congress can renew the American people’s faith in government. 

This week, Speaker Paul Ryan and House Republicans will unveil the fifth plank of their policy platform, which they are calling “A Better Way.” House Republicans claim that they will lay out their plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. However, like each of the other planks of their #WrongWay plan, House Republicans aren’t actually putting any specifics or details forward.

Six years ago, House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and House Democrats created the Make It In America plan to encourage private sector job creation here in the U.S. Today, Whip Hoyer is unveiling an updated Make It In America plan to address today’s economic challenges and opportunities.

This week, Speaker Ryan and House Republicans are beginning to unveil piece of their policy platform, which they call “A Better Way.” The first plank of Speaker Ryan’s agenda is supposed to address poverty, but the plan is just another attempt to rebrand policies that House Republicans have put forward in the past and that we know won’t lift Americans out of poverty.

Three months ago, President Obama requested $1.9 billion in an emergency supplemental appropriation to prepare for and contain the spread of the Zika virus. Instead of responding quickly and working with the Obama Administration, House Republicans have ignored this growing public health crisis for months. 

For months, House Republican leadership has struggled with deep divisions and dysfunction within their Conference, preventing Congress from acting on a number of serious public health crises.
