Consul General Raymond GreeneRaymond Greene began his assignment as U.S. Consul General in Chengdu, China in September 2014.  Prior to this position, Mr. Greene was Director for Japan and East Asian Economic Affairs at the White House National Security Council.  A career Foreign Service Officer, Mr. Greene was U.S. Consul General in Okinawa, Japan and has worked in the U.S. embassies in Tokyo and Manila as well as in Taipei at the American Institute in Taiwan.  At the State Department in Washington, DC, he was Director of the Office of Economic Policy in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.  Mr. Greene also served as Chairman of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum’s Economic Committee. 

Mr. Greene holds a B.A. (Government) and M.P.M. (International Security and Economic Policy) from the University of Maryland, College Park.  Before joining the State Department, Mr. Greene was a researcher at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, DC.  Mr. Greene speaks Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.  He is married.
