Court and Community

The U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico is open to scheduled visits from schools, children and youth groups, non-profit organizations, and other groups interested in learning about the court system, jury service and careers in the federal court.

Teachers are invited to schedule a visit by sending an  email message  in advance to the Office of the Clerk specifying the name of the school or organization and telephone number.  Depending on scheduling and availability, there may be opportunities to:

  • Observe a Court Session.  Often, the court is in sesion when students are visiting.  The Clerk's Office will help teachers select a date for the visit based on what is scheduled in court.
  • Meet People.  U.S. District Judges, U.S. Magistrate Judges, court personnel.
  • Tour a Courtroom.  Touring a courtroom can help students better understand court procedures and the jobs of those who work in the courts.

Student Visit

Our goal is to provide an overview of the federal courts as well as highlight the people who support the court.  There will be opportunities for questions from the students.
