Consulate Speakers Program

The Consulate Speakers Program helps connect the U.S. Consulate community with Chinese audiences in schools, universities, libraries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and groups throughout Northeast China. The goal of our program is to broaden local understanding of the United States, as well as to promote dialogue and sharing of ideas between Chinese and Americans. The Consulate Speakers Program also provides an opportunity for English language students to practice their English skills and think critically about global issues. Chinese language speakers are also available for discussions.

Consulate speakers are available to speak on a wide variety of topics in locations throughout Northeast China. Possible discussion topics include: Sino-U.S. Relations, U.S. Government, the Role of the U.S. Consulate, Life and Culture in the United States, the U.S. Economy, Health and Medicine, English Conversation, and Studying in the United States, among others. Other topic suggestions are welcome. Speakers from the U.S. Consulate will present background information about the desired topic and then engage the audience in thoughtful discussions on the issue. They can address any size group – from single classrooms to large assemblies of students or professionals. The Consulate Speakers Program is a free service offered by the U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang.
