RECOVER

Picayune Strand Pump Station

RECOVER (REstoration COordination & VERification) is a multi-agency team of scientists, modelers, planners and resource specialists who organize and apply scientific and technical information in ways that are essential in supporting the objectives of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).

The RECOVER team conducts scientific and technical evaluations and assessments for improving CERP’s ability to restore, preserve and protect the south Florida ecosystem while providing for the region's other water-related needs. RECOVER applies a system-wide perspective to the planning and implementation of the CERP and communicates and coordinates the results of these evaluations and assessments to managers, decision makers and the public.

Draft RECOVER Performance Measure for Juvenile Spotted Seatrout available for public and agency review - January 13, 2017

The Draft Southern Coastal Systems Performance Measure for Juvenile Spotted Seatrout Habitat Quality is available online for a 10-day public and agency review prior to acceptance by the multi-agency RECOVER (REstoration, Coordination & Verification) team. Comments will be accepted through January 27, 2017.

As restoration of the Everglades progresses, it is important to be able to estimate the ecological response to restoration projects and the program as a whole.  Performance measures are tools to allow managers to assess and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).

The Southern Coastal Systems Performance Measure for Juvenile Spotted Seatrout Habitat Quality has been developed to evaluate CERP scenarios based on juvenile spotted seatrout habitat quality using habitat suitability indices.  This performance measure assesses juvenile spotted seatrout frequency of occurrence, as well as habitat suitability utilizing salinity, temperature, and future seagrass percent cover as habitat parameters.  The desired restoration condition for juvenile spotted seatrout is related to natural salinity regimes based on restoration of freshwater flows into Florida Bay.

Draft Lake Okeechobee Littoral Zone Emergent Vegetation Mosaic Performance Measure available for public and agency review - October 27, 2016

The Draft Lake Okeechobee Littoral Zone Emergent Vegetation Mosaic Performance Measure is currently available online for a 10-day public and agency review prior to acceptance by the multi-agency RECOVER (REstoration, COordination & VERification) team. Comments were accepted through November 10, 2016

As restoration of the Everglades progresses, it is important to be able to estimate the ecological response to restoration projects and the program as a whole.  Performance measures are tools to allow managers to assess and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). The Lake Okeechobee Littoral Zone Emergent Vegetation Mosaic Performance Measure currently available for review has been developed to assess annual emergent vegetation coverage derived from monitoring data. The desired restoration condition for Lake Okeechobee littoral zone emergent vegetation mosaic is related to improvements resulting from hydrologic management and in-lake and watershed restoration projects.

Lake Okeechobee RECOVER Performance Measures available - October 26, 2016

Two final performance measures for Lake Okeechobee are available online.  These performance measures were available for public and agency review through September 1, 2016, prior to final acceptance by the multi-agency RECOVER (REstoration, COordination & VERification) team.

The two Performance Measures are the RECOVER Lake Okeechobee Ecological Indicator Score Performance Measure and the Lake Okeechobee Nearshore Region Submerged Aquatic Vegetation.

As restoration of the Everglades progresses, it is important to be able to estimate the ecological response to restoration projects and the program as a whole.  Performance measures are tools to allow managers to assess and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).

The Lake Okeechobee Ecological Indicator Scores Performance Measures has been developed to evaluate CERP scenarios based on ecological indicator performance measures using predictive lake stages and ecological indicator scores.  The Nearshore Region Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Coverage Performance Measure can be used to assess annual summer submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) coverage derived from monitoring data.  The desired restoration condition for Lake Okeechobee ecological indicators and summer SAV areal coverage are related to improvements in the frequency with which lake stages remain within the preferred stage envelope as a result of improvements resulting from hydrologic management and in-lake and watershed restoration projects.

Southern Coastal Systems Performance Measure for American Crocodile Growth & Survival available - October 2015

The Southern Coastal Systems Performance Measure for American Crocodile Growth and Survival is currently available online.  The performance measure was available for public and agency review through Aug. 15, 2015, prior to final acceptance by the multi-agency RECOVER (REstoration, COordination & VERification) team.

As restoration of the Everglades progresses, it is important to be able to estimate the ecological response to restoration projects and the program as a whole.
