NEVADA OIL AND GAS LEASE SALES

BLM Nevada holds oil and gas lease sales four times per year, as required by the Mineral Leasing Act, when eligible lands are available for leasing. We offer parcels for lease on a rotating schedule among District Offices to allow each office sufficient time to conduct environmental analysis. However, the BLM has the discretion to offer or defer any parcel during any sale.

Beginning in March 2017, BLM Nevada’s lease sales will be held online through EnergyNet (https://www.energynet.com/govt_listing.pl). For more information on the transition to online lease sales, please see the BLM news release: BLM Takes Important Step Toward Online Oil & Gas Lease Sales

Half of the royalties from leasing and mineral development goes to the State of Nevada.

December 13, 2016 Lease Sale

Ely District

  • **NOTICE** This Competitive Lease Sale is postponed until December 12, 2017, due to pending formal Endangered Species Act Section 7 consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on the Ely District Programmatic Biological Opinion. Therefore no lands will be offered for lease until next year. As a reminder, EOIs must be submitted on or before March 17, 2017 in order to be offered for the December 2017 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale.

September 13, 2016 Lease Sale

Carson City & Winnemucca Districts

  • **NOTICE** This Competitive Lease Sale is postponed until September 12, 2017, due to no Expressions of Interest (EOIs) were submitted, therefore no lands will be offered for lease until next year. As a reminder, EOIs must be submitted on or before December 16, 2016 in order to be offered for the September 2017 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale.
