Applications are open for university students and recent graduates focused on cleantech and sustainability to compete in the California Institute of Technology (Caltech)'s First Look West (FLoW) Cleantech University Prize (UP) business plan competition. Cleantech UP, sponsored by the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), is a premier opportunity for university students to tap into entrepreneurial ambition.

Open to teams of students at undergraduate, graduate, or PhD levels, Cleantech UP aims to inspire and equip the next generation of clean energy entrepreneurs and innovators. Teams will receive mentoring, introductions to incubators and accelerator programs, and business developing training.

FLoW's winner will represent the western region at the DOE National Cleantech UP competition. All teams intending to apply must first submit a brief Statement of Intent by February 1, 2017. After filing a Statement of Intent, applicants can apply in a chosen track. Apply by February 15, 2017 for the opportunity to receive mentoring, business development services, and win a $50,000 prize.
