Atomic Energy Commission's Secretariat Files

Atomic Energy Commission?s Secretariat Files
The Office of Classification is releasing declassified, historical documents of the Atomic Energy Commission's Secretariat files. These files, dated from 1958 to 1966, give insight into the activities of the Atomic Energy Commission during a key segment of the Cold War Era. The documents are full text searchable, full image retrievable, and are grouped by folder. The documents are from records declassified by DOE to comply with the requirements of Executive Orders 12958 and 13526 to review classified historical records that are 25 years old or older. The releases support President Obama's Open Government Initiative. The records have been released at the folder level with an accession number beginning with 'HS63' and can be retrieved, in addition to a full text search, by including "HS63*" in the basic search.

Department of Energy Fundamental Classification Guidance ReviewIn June 2012, the Office of Classification published the "National Security Information Fundamental Classification Guidance Review." This review involved almost 200 subject matter experts, working in 36 subject area working groups, and looked at over 2,800 National Security Information (NSI) topics.
