Special Enrollment Periods through January 31, 2017
During the yearly Open Enrollment Period, you can enroll in a health plan any time. Enroll by the 15th of the month and coverage starts the first day of the next month.
But if you have certain life changes – like having a baby, getting married, or losing health coverage -- you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) to start your coverage sooner. Learn about Special Enrollment Periods during Open Enrollment.
We strongly recommend you fill out or update a Marketplace application whether you think you qualify for an SEP or not. When you complete your application we’ll tell you when your coverage can start.
Start or Update an Application- You can enroll with or without a Special Enrollment Period until January 31, 2017. After that, you must qualify for an SEP to enroll in 2017 health insurance.
- You can apply for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) any time of year, including Open Enrollment. Just fill out a Marketplace application.
