To conduct a statistical analysis on the patterns and use of various types of leave programs, and to conduct simulations of alternative worker leave policies to estimate effects of different parameters of worker leave policies.

Youth Career Connect Evaluation

To conduct an impact evaluation and complementary analysis of Youth Career Connect and to develop a participant tracking system for the program.

National Guard Youth Challenge and Job Challenge Evaluation

The purpose of this project is to design and conduct an evaluation to better understand the implementation and outcomes of the National Guard Youth Challenge and Job Challenge program. The evaluation will provide information on the DOL Job Challenge grants and the experiences and outcomes of participants including court-involved youth.

Performance Partnership Pilots for Disconnected Youth (P3) National Evaluation

The purpose of this study is to identify and document the extent to which the P3 initiative increased coordination across Federal agencies and programs to allow local communities the flexibilities they need to support disconnected youth. Further, based on the results from local evaluations at each of the nine P3 Pilots, the study will highlight effective and promising practices for achieving employment-related outcomes for youth.

Information on Subsidized and Transitional Employment Demonstration (STED) Paycheck Plus Site

The purpose of this project is to study the impact of an enhanced Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for low-income individuals without dependent children in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. This project will build on and leverage research being conducted for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in its collaboration with the Employment and Training Administration (ETA), on HHS's Subsidized and Transitional Employment Demonstration (STED) Paycheck Plus site.

The Customer Experience in American Job Centers

This small exploratory evaluation is helping DOL learn more about the customer experience at American Job Centers (AJCs), both that of job and training seekers and that of employers. This study has three purposes: (1) to learn more about the customer experience in AJCs, (2) to highlight promising practices in those AJCs, and (3) to consider behavioral science–based tools that will enhance the AJC customer experience.

State Exchange on Employment and Disability (SEED) Evaluation

The purpose of this study is to better understand the efficiency and practicality of the Office of Disability Employment Policy's (ODEP's) State Exchange on Employment & Disability (SEED). SEED is a collaborative model dedicated to ensuring that state policymakers have the tools and resources they need to develop and disseminate meaningful polices related to disability-inclusive workforce development.

Evaluation of Customer Satisfaction with Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) Technical Assistance Centers

The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which customers are satisfied with the technical assistance provide and to document the processes and methods used by the Technical Assistance (TA) Centers to encourage the adoption and implementation of Office of Disability Employment Policy's (ODEP's) policies and practices by targeted and untargeted customers.

Linking Employment Activities Pre-Release (LEAP) Program

The purpose of this study is to better understand the elements of the Linking to Employment Activities Pre-Release (LEAP) pilot programs, the client flow and services provided, partnership involved, coordination with full-service and satellite One-Stop Career Centers/American Job Centers (AJCs), and administrative and reporting strategies adopted to manage activities, staff, and results. This study will increase DOL’s knowledge about approaches that provide career development and training services to individuals before and after their release from incarceration.

Career Pathways Design Study

The purpose of this contract is to document what is currently known, identify the gaps in the literature, document current promising programmatic directions, challenges, and unanswered questions, and develop evaluation design recommendations for the U.S. Department of Labor that will allow the Department, in partnership with other federal partners, to implement an evaluation(s) to meet the requirements of the WIOA legislation and add to the evidence base about Career Pathways models and practices for training and service provision for low-wage or low-skilled workers in health care or early education and child care.

Evaluation Design of Job Corps Experimental Center Cascades

The purpose of this study is to design and conduct a rigorous evaluation of the impact of the Job Corps pilot program, the Cascades Job Corps College and Career Academy, of the youth served. Cascades will serve high school drop-outs and unemployed youth ages 16 to 21. The pilot aims to provide expanded and intensive academic instruction, career pathways technical training, and non-cognitive skills training in two industry sectors, Health Care and Information Technology.

Job Corps External Review

The purpose of this review is to identify opportunities that could lead to a more effective and efficient Job Corps program through designing and conducting a study that uses existing evidence and builds on this evidence and knowledge. The Fiscal Year 2017 Department of Labor Budget Request included a requirement that in 2016, DOL and Job Corps launch an external evaluation to review the Job Corps program, the outgrowth of which could be used to consider broad structural changes and impactful service changes that can enhance Job Corps’ effectiveness and efficiency in serving high-risk youth. The objective is to position the Federal program to better meet the needs of the 21st Century economy and the needs of the high risk youth. This study intends to provide information that can help fulfill this goal.

Survey of Employer Policies on the Employment of People with Disabilities

The purpose of this research is to design and administer a nationally representative survey of employers to better understand employer policies and attitudes pertaining to employees with disabilities. The knowledge gained from this survey will help the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) develop policies and practices for improved employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
