President's FY 2017 Budget Request
On February 9, the White House Office of Management and Budget released the President's Budget Request for FY 2017, which totals approximately $5.8 billion for NOAA and supports investments in: (1) community resilience, (2) evolving the National Weather Service, (3) observational infrastructure, and (4) organizational excellence. NOAA requests a total of $520 million to support the continued and enhanced operations of OAR, an increase of $30.7 million above the FY 2016 enacted. NOAA Research's Sandy Supplemental Program Overview
Sandy struck the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coasts with powerful winds, rain, and storm surges that caused unprecedented damages in some of the nation’s most populous areas. The communities hit by Sandy will be rebuilding and recovering for years to come. This document provides more details on OAR's $74.7 million investment across four areas, approximately half of which will support extramural investigators.
