For the first time ever, the debris vessel SNELL and special purpose vessel CURRITUCK worked in tandem to remove boulders from the federal channel at Narragansett Bay in Connecticut. The SNELL lifted boulders that weighed up to 15 tons from the channel and placed them into the CURRITUCK to be carried away to an authorized area.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, in conjunction with Cape Fear River Watch, held a Centennial Celebration at Lock and Dam No. 1, on Nov. 21 to commemorate the lock and dam’s 100th anniversary.
