Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
The former statewide accountability system mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which requires each state to ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress.With the passage of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), states are no longer required to produce AYP but are required to develop a new accountability system by 2017–18.
On September 8, 2016, the California State Board of Education (SBE) approved a new accountability system which will be made available online in 2017. In the meantime, the California Department of Education will release the 2016 Accountability Transition Report, which provides the most recent information on school district and school performance on statewide assessments.
As California transitions to the new accountability system, this Web page will continually be updated to provide reports and information on the new accountability system, the Local Control Funding Formula [LCFF] Evaluation Rubrics, which will report school district and school performance on multiple measures.
