Joining BioOne Complete

BioOne offers nonprofit societies, associations, institutions, and other independent publishing organizations the opportunity to enhance their online presence, increase global distribution, and earn a competitive annual royalty from aggregated sales of BioOne's subscribed aggregation,  BioOne Complete. Interested publishers should first visit the Benefits to Publishers page for more detail on financial and strategic benefits of participation. Applicants interested in publishing open access on BioOne can learn more here.

Beginning in the spring of each year, BioOne determines collection openings for the following year and both solicits and accepts new title applicants. All new titles debut in January, and are announced to the library community by August 31.

Inclusion in BioOne Complete is competitive
, as BioOne only adds a few new titles each ear. This measured growth strategy ensures a high-quality aggregation that will be attractive to subscribers, and that participants receive a stable and sustainable revenue stream.

Publications are assessed based on a variety of criteria including, but not limited to,

  • fit with the aggregation's content scope and publisher cohort;
  • librarian surveying and records of title requests;
  • peer-reviewed status and on-time, predictable publication schedule;
  • international scope and/or editorial board; and
  • Impact Factor, inclusion in Scopus, and/or other indicators of citations and strong usage.
    Please note that all BioOne Complete publications must be able to submit the majority of new content in English. Furthermore, we require the submission of current content at the time of publication, and cannot accommodate requests for embargoes on current content.

    For more information on joining BioOne Complete, please contact us. There is not a formal application process for potential  participants; representatives of interested titles need only contact us to relay their interest and provide pertinent information supporting their candidacy. Titles that are not selected for a given year are kept on file and revisited each subsequent year.
