NOAA's Pathways Programs

The Pathways Program – Interns, Recent Graduates and Presidential Management Fellows - revises, establishes and reinvigorates the former Student Educational Employment Programs (SEEP), which encompassed the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP), and Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP).
NOTE: The SCEP and STEP Programs are no longer active.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides opportunities for students pursuing career options while progressing towards their degree - whether undergraduate, graduate, or beyond. We offer opportunities that can expose current and former students to a career field while assisting NOAA in performing critical work that supports our mission.

What is Pathways?
The Pathways Program came into existence on December 27, 2010, when President Obama signed Executive Order (EO) 13562, "Recruiting and Hiring Students and Recent Graduates." This EO established two new programs and modified the existing Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program. The Pathways Program includes three excellent programs:

Program Overview
Pathways Internship Program Provides students in high schools, colleges, trade schools and other qualifying educational institutions the chance to explore Federal careers while completing their education.
Pathways Recent Graduate Program Provides developmental experiences for recent grad's to explore possible careers in the civil service
Presidential Management Fellowship Program (PMF) It is the premier leadership development program for advanced degree (e.g., masters or professional degree) candidates.

Why Pathways at NOAA?
NOAA values the contributions made by students and recent graduates of all ages and backgrounds. NOAA is an agency that enriches life through science. NOAA's products and services support economic vitality and affect more than one-third of America's gross domestic products. NOAA's dedicated scientists use cutting-edge research and high-tech instrumentation to provide citizens, planners, emergency managers, and other decision makers with the reliable information and intelligence that they need, when they need it. From daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings, and climate monitoring, to fisheries management, coastal restoration, and support for marine commerce, as well any of our other program areas (Human Resources, Finance and Budget, etc…) there's a career waiting for you at NOAA!
