Appointments
To better serve the needs of U.S. citizens in our consular district and to minimize customer wait times, you must make an appointment for all routine services.
If you need more than one service during your visit, please be sure to make separate appointments.
Routine services requiring an appointment include:
- Applying for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA)
- Renewing your Adult Passport (16 years and older)
- Renewing your Child’s Passport (Under 16 years)
- Applying for Your First Adult Passport (16 years and older)
- Notarial Services
- Marriageability Affidavits
Making An Appointment: Once you have reviewed the documentation requirements for your particular service, and have prepared all applicable forms, please schedule an appointment by selecting the Make Appointment link below.

I'd like to Make an Appointment
Attention: U.S. citizens intending to apply for renunciation are asked to email the Consulate directly via guangzhouacs@state.gov to schedule the initial appointment. Renunciation appointments scheduled via our website will not be accepted.
You do not need an appointment for the following services:
- Replacement of Lost or Stolen U.S. passports with immediate travel outside of China;
- To report the death, arrest or hospitalization, threat to or other emergency of a U.S. citizen;
- To pick up a passport or Consular Report of Birth Abroad or benefit check;
- To submit a Social Security Number application or for other federal benefits issues, you may either come to the Consular Section Wednesdays between 8:30 – 11:30 or make an appointment under “Notarials and other services” in our Appointment System;
- Voting information.
Business Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 11:30 am, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, excluding American and Chinese holidays.
Appointments arriving more than thirty minutes late or applicants who do not have the appropriate forms completed within thirty minutes of their scheduled appointment time, will be asked to reschedule their appointment online for a later time. Please plan accordingly and arrive at the Consulate at least fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow sufficient time to go through security.
