Housing Counselors
Housing counselors can work with you on reaching out to your lender to get help with your mortgage. They can also provide you with budget and credit advice. Regardless of who owns your mortgage, housing counselors are available to assist you at little or no charge.
Freddie Mac Borrower Help Centers
If your loan is owned by Freddie Mac and you’re struggling to make your mortgage payments on time, help is available – in person or over the phone. HUD-certified counselors will help you understand your options, work with your lender, and provide you with holistic financial counseling.
Housing Finance Agencies
In 2010, the government introduced Hardest Hit Funds to assist homeowners living areas that were hit hardest by the financial crisis. These funds, managed by state Housing Finance Agencies, are intended to assist struggling homeowners facing home price declines and unemployment.
Trusted Advisors
Freddie Mac teams up with nonprofit organizations throughout the nation to help borrowers who are behind on their mortgage and need assistance. These organizations also help homebuyers with pre-purchase counseling, ensuring they are well prepared for successful homeownership.
