Absentee Voting Information for Americans Abroad

The most updated information on absentee voting for Americans living abroad is available from two sources – the Department of State’s Overseas Voting information, and the information provided by the Federal Voting Assistance Program. Please visit these websites to learn about deadlines and procedures for registering and voting.

When requesting voting information by e-mail, please indicate your name, current address in China, and your last legal state of residence in the United States.

Submitting Your U.S. Postage Paid Absentee Ballot at the U.S. Consulate in Wuhan

If you are an American Citizen in Wuhan and wish to send your absentee ballot for the 2016 General Election to the United States, you may contact the U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan, China at USConsulateWuhan@state.gov to schedule a time to drop your sealed, U.S. postage paid absentee ballot at the Consulate. We are only able to accept absentee ballots that are U.S. Postage Paid. We will only accept absentee ballots at the Consulate until September 21, 2016, after which time you should seek other international shipping options to ensure that your absentee ballot arrives in the U.S. in a timely fashion.
