The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit is located on the 8th floor of Westgate Mall, 1038 West Nanjing Road, Shanghai, China.

Hours
Normal business hours are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on holidays and certain other days for administrative reasons.  Routine services are offered from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; appointments are required.  Please review our instructions for making an appointment.  Please note that the office is closed on public holidays and certain other days for administrative purposes.

Emergency Services
If you are injured or are the victim of a crime, please contact the police in your local area.  In the Shanghai consular district and throughout China, the Police Emergency Number is 110.  The Fire Emergency number is 119.  After normal business hours, if you have an emergency involving an American citizen such as a hospitalization, death, or arrest, please call (86-21) 3217-4650 and press "0" to speak with an emergency operator. For after-hours emergencies, you may also call (86-10) 8531-4000.

During our normal business hours anyone with a genuine need for emergency assistance may come to the American Citizen Services Unit for help without an appointment.  You may also reach us by phone during our normal business hours in case of a genuine emergency involving an American citizen, such as a hospitalization, death or arrest, at (86-21) 3217-4650. 

U.S. Visa Questions
Please note that inquiries regarding U.S. visas cannot be answered by the American Citizen Services Unit.  For inquiries regarding U.S. visas, please review our visa unit’s detailed webpage at http://shanghai.usembassy-china.org.cn/visas.html.  American citizens who wish to inquire about visas for Chinese citizens are welcome to attend our weekly American citizen visa hour.  Alternatively, American citizens may use the inquiry form at http://shanghai.usembassy-china.org.cn/visas/contact-us.html to submit inquiries related specifically to a pending U.S. non-immigrant visas cases.
