Overview

CMS plans to develop sets of suggested clinical elements that may assist providers with data collection and medical documentation to support coverage of selected items and services. The suggested clinical elements are not a form but a tool which the physician or treating practitioner may voluntarily use to create electronic medical documentation.

To bring the suggested clinical elements to the provider community, CMS is currently collaborating with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and the electronic Determination of Coverage (eDoC) workgroup in developing the interoperability standards necessary for an electronic clinical template. The electronic clinical template will assist physicians with the electronic submission of the medical documentation obtained during the face-to-face examination with a patient.

On the left hand side of this website you will find links to the web page describing the power mobility device (PMD), lower limb prostheses (LLP), and home health clinical elements as well as the electronic determination of coverage (eDoC) workgroup. These pages contain information about upcoming Special Open Door Forum conference calls and other current information.
