Freedom of Information Act

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) office and employees at the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) are continuing to process FOIA requests to the best of their ability
during the COVID-19 pandemic.  However, due to limited access to some records, processing times may be affected.

We may not receive FOIA requests sent by U.S. mail, overnight mail services, or facsimile in a timely manner.  We recommend requesters submit requests through
WAPA's FOIA email address at
FOIA@wapa.gov, or through the government-wide portal at https://www.foia.gov.

The Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. § 552, which was enacted in 1966 and took effect July 4, 1967 provides that any person has a right to obtain access to agency records.

The FOIA applies only to Federal agencies and does not create a right of access to records held by Congress, the courts or by state or local government agencies.

To request a document under the FOIA, please use the online request form, fax a request to 720-962-7009, or send a request by regular mail to: Western Area Power Administration, FOIA Officer - A0200, P.O. Box 281213, Lakewood, CO 80228.  For additional information, please call 720-962-7010
