Updated Meteorological Siting Standard Posted

December 23, 2016

An updated version of the "Federal Standard for Siting Meteorological Sensors at Airports" was posted today. This is the first update of this publication since it was initially published in 1994. This update references the most current regulations concerning the placement of weather-observing sensors at airports and heliports. Please click the link below for more information.

National Space Weather Program History Published

January 13, 2017

A detailed history of the National Space Weather Program (NSWP) was recently published online by the American Geophysical Union's Space Weather journal. OFCM's Michael Bonadonna and Judson Stailey co-authored the piece, along with Dr. Louis Lanzerotti of the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Highlights of the article include multiple agencies emphasizing the importance of the NSWP during congressional budget hearings on the Space Environment Center (now the Space Weather Prediction Center), and NSWP Assessment Report, among others.
