Species Recovery Grants to Tribes support tribally-led recovery efforts that directly benefit the following eligible species under NMFS, or joint NMFS-U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), jurisdiction:
- species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), excluding Pacific salmonids*
- recently de-listed species
- candidate species
- species proposed for listing under the ESA
* Proposals focusing on listed Pacific salmon or steelhead may be supported through the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund.
In addition, grants support recovery efforts that may involve any combination of:
- management
- research
- outreach activities
Can I Apply?
Federally-recognized tribes and organizations of federally-recognized tribes, such as the Alaska Eskimo Whaling Commission, that have delegated authority to represent a federally recognized tribe on matters relating to listed, candidate, or proposed species are eligible to apply.
How Do I Apply?
The solicitation period for FY2017 is now closed.
Submit proposals through Grants.gov, the online portal to all Federal grant opportunities. More information about Grants.gov and NOAA Grants is available on the NOAA Grants Management Division website.
