Senator Grassley introduced the Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act, bipartisan legislation that would make certain types of hearing aids available over the counter. More than 30 million Americans have age-related hearing loss, yet only about 14 percent of those with hearing loss use assistive hearing technology, often because they cannot afford costly hearing aids.

After hearing from Iowans about the issue, Senator Grassley is seeking answers from the company that produces EpiPens, a life-saving medical device used to treat severe allergic reactions, regarding significant price increases over the last few years. He is also pressing federal agencies for answers on the effect this has on taxpayers and where in the approval process alternatives are in order to allow for marketplace competition.
