The clearinghouse contains information on more than 400 reports and articles from Federally-supported research, along with a select number of datasets that are available for use in new research on financial capability topics.
Tips for Searching the Clearinghouse
To search the collection of research materials, please use the search box on the navigation bar while on the “Resources for Researchers” page. Simply type in the word or phrase that describes your topic, and the site will search the collection. It will limit the search only to clearinghouse information. You may further narrow the search results using filters.

- Type of resource (e.g., article, bibliography, book chapter, brief, case study, conference proceedings, discussion, evaluation, dataset, peer-reviewed article, report, presentation slides, testimony, working paper)
- Author
- Date Published
- Federal agency that supported the research
- Report synopsis or abstract
- Link to a website with the complete report or other resource
If the resource is a dataset, the results will also list:
- Contact information on obtaining the dataset of new research
Resources are categorized around the MyMoney Five principles (Earn, Save & Invest, Protect, Spend, Borrow) and several major financial capability topics.

2012 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) Financial Literacy Data
PISA 2012 is the first large-scale international study to assess the financial literacy, learned in and outside of school, of 15-year-olds nearing the end of compulsory education. It assesses the extent to which students in 18 participating countries and economies have the knowledge and skills that are essential to make financial decisions and plans for their future. The assessment highlights the importance of financial literacy, defines financial education and financial literacy, and discusses how the assessment was organized. It also offers an overview of the limited and uneven provision of financial education in schools in participating countries and economies, and describes the steps taken in some countries to improve financial literacy among students.
Call for Papers—The Ninth Biennial Federal Reserve System Community Development Research Conference
The Community Affairs Officers of the Federal Reserve System invite paper submissions for the ninth biennial Federal Reserve System Community Development Research Conference. This conference is a unique event that aims to bridge the gap between research, policy, and practice on key issues facing the country. High-quality and emerging research is presented in a dialogue with policymakers and community practitioners who can utilize the lessons gleaned from research. Abstracts are due September 8, 2014, and full drafts must be submitted by March 2, 2015.
Financial Literacy and Education Commission 2012 Research Priorities
This document summarizes the 2012 research priorities identified by the Financial Literacy and Education Commission’s Research and Evaluation Working Group, in consultation with members of the President’s Advisory Council for Financial Capability’s Research and Evaluation Subcommittee, and other experts. The document is intended to inform members of the Commission, other federal government supports of research, and private sector and academic researchers and research funders so that they may address the most important questions facing the financial literacy and education field, reduce duplication and overlap, and make best use of limited research dollars.
