The Cooperative Forestry Staff, of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's
Forest Service, delivers its work through states and other partners. 

Programs like Forest Legacy, Forest Stewardship, Urban and Community Forestry, and Wood Innovations are tools the USFS, states and communities use to address and sustain our trees and forested landscapes.

We collaborate with partners to create nature based solutions. We strive to ensure all Americans receive the clean air, water, and natural areas they need to thrive.

Forests cover 766 million acres in the United States and private, community, state, and tribal forest owners manage 445 million acres or two-thirds of these forests. These non-federal forests and their owners as well as the 130 million acres of public urban forests contribute to the quality of life for all Americans and are under increasing pressure to provide, water, fish and wildlife habitat, recreation opportunities, stormwater control, energy conservation, public health benefits, open natural areas, and forest products.

We are a partnership-driven organization. Federal funding is provided to States, local governments, and non-profit organizations to leverage
additional resources and fuel innovative ideas. We work closely with other units within the Forest Service, and other federal agencies to enhance and maintain forests across watersheds and ecosystems, both on private and public land.
